More information on our IQF Fish

IQF stands for Individual Quick Freezing, and is a method used for freezing fish in the food processing industry. One of the main advantages of this method of preparing frozen fish is that the freezing process generally takes only a few minutes, though the exact time depends on the type of IQF freezer and the product. Because the fish is frozen in such a short space of time, this prevents large ice crystals forming in the products cell, which prevents the membranes being destroyed at a molecular level. This ensures that that the product keeps its shape, colour, smell and taste after defrosting, at a far greater extent. Another significant advantage of IQF technology is its ability to separate the products during freezing, which produces a higher quality product compared to block freezing. When cooking, we recommend to cook these products from frozen, however, this can depend on how you are planning to cook your fish.
